iOS becomes more popular than Mac OS-X
Recent research shows that iOS mobile operating system commonly used in iPhones and iPads has become more popular than its big brother, the Mac OS-X. iOS, a simpler operating system which doesn’t even offer Adobe Flash and has no support for faster processors has become more popular than ever. The introduction of Apple’s latest iOS 5.1 and new devices such as the upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad 3 will elevate the use iOS among internet users.
Based on information from Chitika, a company offering website owners revenue through ad impressions on their websites showed that its latest data covering ad impressions reveals that more and more iOS users are surfing the web than Mac OS-X users. Devices such as iPhones, iPads and even iPods that run iOS have become more and more fashionable these days in term of internet access. The launch of iPhone 4S last October definitely helped to achieve this end.
Based on Chitika’s data demonstrates that iOS has been posting regular growth amounting to 50 per cent increase as of this month compared to Mac OS-X which sadly diminished to a mere 25 percent. In total, Mac OS-X has acquired a 7.96 percent of web traffic while iOS staged at 8.15 per cent. Based on rumors, Apple is claimed to be introducing iPad 3 by March 29 and possibly iPhone 5 at a later date, plus the latest rumor, which suggests that Apple might also offer the largest MacBook to date, the 15-inch version and another rumor adds that a 15-inch Air laptop might get a July release date as well.
The latest version of iOS operating system will offer more features such as the ability to be activated wirelessly without the use of a PC or a Mac (PC-Free feature). The new software also will enable the system to grab more internet market share and offering a better web browser – the Safari web browser is now offered with easy-to-use tab for the iPad plus many more other features.
There could be a possibility that Apple might introduce a new entry-level iPad 2 price due to iPad 3 (such as the new price list for iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 at the introduction of iPhone 4S) and this will definitely add to the number of iOS users. The cheapest MacBook Air powered by Mac OS-X is priced at $999 (RM3021) and the cheasest iPad 2 is about $499 (RM1509). It is expected that more and more users will opt either for the iOS or the Android for use to access the internet in 2012.
