More than 25 billion downloads on Apple’s App Store
The Cupertino-based toymaker for the high heeled, Apple announced recently that over 25 billion apps were downloaded from its ground-breaking App Store from over 315 million users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices all over the world. A lucky user Chunli Fu of Qingdo, China made the 25 billionth free app download called where’s My Water and won the App Store countdown to 25 Billion Apps contest, Chunli Fu will receive a $10,000 worth of iTunes Gift Card.
Apple’s press web site quoted Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services as saying, “We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded. When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.”
Apple’s revolutionary App Store is amazing because to date it has over 550,000 apps available to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 123 countries around the world. To add that up more than 170,000 native iPad apps are available as well. Customers of Apple’s products can choose from a wide range of apps in 21 categories, covering Newsstand, games business, news, sports, health and fitness and travel. Apple said that the App Store has paid out more than four billion dollars to developers.
According to Apple, it designs the Macs, which is the best personal computers in the world, as well as the OS X, iLife, iWork and some other professional software. Apple claims to be the leading force in digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Furthermore, Apple also reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with iPad.
