Retailers cut price of iPad 2 amid an impending Apple iPad 3 release
Retailers are starting to cut the price of the second generation iPad 2 amidst the news of the release of the much speculated and much venerated, Apple’s iPad 3. The move is also partly motivated by the emergence of faster Android-based quad-core tablets in the market.
AppleInsider in its website reported that the most notable price cut comes from a US retailer, Meijer which had the price of the 6GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 down to $429, a price cut totaling to $70. Meijer stated in its advertisement that the offer will continue until February 25th while stocks last.
The decision to push the iPad 2 to customers on a reduced price is wise and at the right time. Tech websites over the internet has been posting amazing stories about the impressive features of the iPad 3 and other quad-core powered Android tablets, showing to consumers that the current top models are technologically laging behind.
Speculations of the features of the iPad three which culminates all around the net states that it will be powered by Apple’s latest A6 quad-core processor, a Retina display with an amazing resolutions of 2048 X 1536 pixels, an enhanced camera similar to the one used in the iPhone 4S, and perhaps a Siri feasture as well.

Apple may have scaled down the production of the iPad 2 because reports were emerging about the shortage of the device on certain markets. It is usual for Apple to limit production of a current device prior to the release of a new model.
