Huawei Ascend G300 : an affordable entry level Android phone
Huawei’s Ascend G300 is an affordable entry-level smartphone that is yet to reach the Malaysian shore. This amazing phone is already planned for launch in the UK on Friday through a telco carrier, Vodafone.
Vodafone offered the device through its Pay-As-You-Go Plan for a mere £100 with a minimum £10 top up or alternatively a two-year contract with the carrier at £15 per month and 100 minutes call time, 500 texts and 250MB amount of data to go with.

What is most striking with this device is that it offered features identical to that of Samsung’s Galaxy SII but comes only a quarter of the device’s (Galaxy SII) original price. It will be good news for those who can’t afford the Galaxy S II, they now can get their hands on a similar phone in terms capability but with affordable price. RRP price for Samsung Galaxy SII is currently at RM1,699 (US$533) and if the claim of the pricing is true then the price for the device would only be at RM424.75 (US$138) which is only 25 per cent of Samsung’s Galaxy II original price.
The Huawei Ascend G300 was unveiled in Mobile World Congress in early 2012 and features a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen together with screen resolutions of 800 X 480 pixels. It is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich. It also has a 1500mAh battery, a 2.5 onboard storage and a decent 5MP camera.
Apart from those features mentioned above, the device also sports a microSD card slot storage, which can support up to 32GB amount of data. It comes in chrome and white finish, support Wi-Fi and only weighs about 130g.
The G300 earns good response from customers in the UK and is at par with three other contenders such as the ZTE Blade 2 and the HTC Evo 3D.
