Amazon Kindle App for the new iPad
For users of the new iPad, Amazon has just launched its Kindle app for the new iPad or Amazon Kindle App for short. The app, which has been used originally for the older iPads, has now been rewritten to take advantage of the Retina display of the new iPad. Some notable features of the new app are as follow:
- Seamless reading experience.
- New library view, the books covers now look brighter than ever.
- Able to access content from within the product itself or through cloud.
Because of Apple’s revenue sharing system, users will not be able to download e-books directly from the application, instead you can point your brwoser to www.amazon.com/kindlestoreforipad to download any of your favorite e-books. Kindle app for iPad is available free at iOS App Store.
The new Kindle App for iPad (Version 3) is heavier than any of the previous version, well that is, if you are installing the app on an older iPad. Unfortunately, Apple has only Version 3 of the app and no older versions are available for download at Apple Store.
The new iPad was already on sale starting from March 16. However, the new iPad has yet to be launched in Malaysia. A quick check on Apple Malaysia store only revealed the iPad 2, even a search using the keywords “new ipad” or “ipad 3” did not reveal any results. Perhaps it is not yet ready for sale in Malaysia or perhaps Apple is still waiting for volume shipment to get to Malaysia.
According to a local tech website malaysianwireless the new iPad should be available in Malaysia by mid April and local telcos such as Maxis, Digi and Celcom probably have already arranged plans for this new tablet from Apple. Malaysian fans of the new iPad have to be patient; it will get here one way or the other, just sit back and be ready with your money.
