HTC is speculated to unveil HTC Edge at MWC 2012

HTC is sending invites to promote its latest event scheduled 26 February 2012 at the World Mobile Congress to be held in Barcelona. The move inevitably ask for speculations that the company will be releasing its latest device – the quad core HTC Edge.

If these rumors are true, the HTC will be featuring screen of 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches (~312 ppi pixel density). Powered by a quad core 1.5GHz Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. Tegra 3 chip in the Edge will improve performance significantly. This will include a new 12-core GPU that will allow three times the graphics capabilities of the outgoing Tegra 2, while minimizing power consumption by 61 per cent. It has 1 GB of RAM,  and will be running Android’s latest OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich. The Edge will also feature an 8 MP camera with 3264×2448 pixels, autofocus with  LED flash. The Edge is also capable of 21Mbps HSDPA network speeds.  For a full specifications, click here.

The HTC Edge is expected to be on sale by late Q1, or early Q2 of this year.

Apart from HTC, there were other players holding their own events at the same time such as Huawei, Sony and Samsung. Many new devices will be unveiled and even though many of these have already been revealed earlier during press events, but one could not stop speculating of mysterious devices that failed to reach the press. The Mobile World Congress 2012 will run from February 27th to March 1st in Barcelona.

Watch this week’s Android Revolution as we go through what’s hot and what’s not in the world of Google’s Android project. In today’s show we begin by talking about our recent leak of the HTC Edge, which is apparently the manufacturer’s first Quad-core smartphone. We also continue with more leaks regarding a full list of HTC devices for the future, an LG device sporting Ice Cream Sandwich and lots of other leaks. We later talk about the recent smartphone releases, which oddly include a pink variant of the Samsun Galaxy S II. We go through our coverage of the Samsung Galaxy Note and Motorola Droid RAZR, and we end the hot section with the new Tegra 3 SoC Processor that Nvidia just unveiled.

In what’s not hot we cover Adobe’s recent decision to not provide more support for their Adobe Flash player on mobile devices, which definitely takes a big hit in the Android Community.
