Lenovo to unveil LePhone S2 and IdeaTab S2 at CES
Lenovo will be launching its LePhone S2 – a Gingerbread smart phone with a Mondrian proprietary UI (which looks like a webOS) at CES next week.
This device does not seems to have sophisticated specs, but what is interesting about this device is that it claims to have a kernel-level encryption for enterprise use. With this level of security, user data is secured and also able to prevent malware and phishing attacks.
Another S2 device to be highlighted by Lenovo at CES is the IdeaTab S2. It is a 10-inch tablet powered by Android IceCream Sandwich (Android 4.0) which is also equipped with Mondrian UI.
What’s interesting is that it is almost identical to Asus’ Eee Pad Transformer Prime, also with its detachable keyboard. It is comparable to the Prime Transformer in terms of dimensions, weight, screen size and resolution. It comes equipped with 3G, 1GB of RAM and a memory option up to to 64GB, and finally, a micro-HDMI port.
The Lenovo tablet is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, evidently, lagging in performance compared with Prime Transformer’s Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor.
Based on information gathered, the S2 device has already started to be marketed in China for U.S. $ 400 (RM1255). It is hoped that this phone will start shipping to the other Asian countries in the near future.
