My Version of Picasso’s – Dora Maar with a Cat
I was surfing the net last night looking for paintings and cartoons that I hope would light some sorts of inspiration to my cartooning works. As minutes turned to hours, I almost gave up as most that I stumbled upon were far from inspirational but more on lusty encounters (as some of the pictures which appeared on Google were images of x-rated materials), but at last I finally found something that caught my interest.

It was the famous Pablo Picasso’s painting – Dora Maar with a cat. Details from the painting explained that Picasso ranks among the top painters of all-time. He was one of the founders of cubism – a stlye that captures its object from different angles all at once. This painting is actually of Picasso’s lover. It was sold in 2006 for for almost 100 million dollars.

It took me a few minutes to look at the painting in detail. What made this painting so famous and so expensive, at 100 million dollars!? Oh, man if I had that kind of money, I would buy Mars and the Moon together at once. What I saw in the painting was none so special after all – I almost didn’t recognised the cat, and Gosh! What happened with her eyes!? Did Picasso have any realisation of symmetrical elements?
Picasso could have finished the painting within minutes (that’s what I guessed), well I would try and paint my own lover in Picasso’s style. Here is my drawing.

I finished this painting in merely 35 minute and 20 seconds! As a rule adapted from Picasso’s, it was captured from 37.5 different angles including – left, right, up, down, west, south, north, east, northern southerly, etc., etc. I hope this Picasso-style, painting of mine would sell at least within the 1001 millions Rupiah mark!
