Ongkor lost his mother

Ongkor goes to work one morning crying hysterically. His boss, Gumpirit, concerned about his employee, walks over to him and asks sympathetically, “What’s the matter?”

Ongkor replies, “Awal pagi tadi, saya dapat panggilan telipon, bahawa sahnya, mama saya meninggal” (“Early this morning I got a phone call that my mother had passed away.” )

The boss, feeling very sorry at this point suggests to Ongkor, “Ongkor, ko bercuti lah hari ini, pulang dan tenangkan pikiran” (“Why don’t you go home for the day…we aren’t terribly busy. Just take the day off and go relax.” )

Ongkor very calmly states, “Tidak payah la. Lebih baik saya kerja saja, supaya bila sibuk, saya tidak ingat pasal kesedihan ini” (“No I’d be better off here. I need to keep my mind busy and I have the best chance of doing that here.” )

The boss agrees and allows him to work as usual. “Kalau ko perlu apa-apa, ko panggil saya saja ah..” says the boss. (“If you need anything just let me know”, says the boss.)

A few hours pass and the boss decides to check on Ongkor. He looks out his office and sees him again crying hysterically like a mad bull. He rushes over an asks, “Kanapa ni Ongkor, ko OK kaini? ada apa-apa saya buli bantu?” (“What’s the matter now? Are you going to be ok?” )

Ongkor breaks down in tears. “Saya baru terima panggilan telipon dari adik kandung saya, mama dia pun meninggal juga” (“I just received a horrible call from my sister. She said that her mom died too!!”)
