SEO Optimization
I have always been curious about improving the page ranks of my blog. Everybody was talking about SEO, how to optimize your site for search engines and how to improve your Alexa or Google ranking. Even the acronym SEO seems unfamiliar to me, it sounded like CEO, or something, which had to do with business or its equivalent. Only after a Google search that I fully understand the meaning of the word.
My Google Analytics Report
I did not even bother about my site ranking and whether I need to improve it, so that search engine will be able to trace it more effectively. What is essential during that time was – I had a story with some illustrations that I need to publish quickly, and that is it. When I joined Sabahbloggers.com a few weeks ago I realized that to get your blog visible to the world, you need to optimize it for search engines.
My Alexa ranking
One of the administrators in Sabahbloggers.com recommended a WordPress plug-in, Platinum SEO. At first the menus and instructions within Platinum SEO seemed very difficult to understand, especially to a computer novice like me but after a few trials and errors, I managed to get hold of some instructions. I only entered information on the things that I do understand notably the title, the descriptions and the key words. These were additional information that you need to insert apart from the categories and post tags in WordPress itself.
Another plugin that I found useful was Keyword Optimizer. What you can do in this simple plug-in is to key in your most important keywords and to have the option of either placing them in bold <strong>, italics <em> or underlined <u>. I believe that search engines will detect these more easily with such formatting.
I waited for three days and accessed my google analytics account and found out that they really worked; I had almost over 1000% change in visits. Next, I accessed Alexa.com and type in my URI, I was amazed to see a marked improvement in page ranking, from 1,0000 to 939,++ and my Malaysian traffic rank improved from 8,000 to 4,076. In fact, it improved hourly.
