The blue underwear

Sometimes within the late afternoon of yesterday, I was busy hanging up my clothes when I received a call about some important tasks that I need to complete during the weekend. Preoccupied, I continued hanging up the clothes without even bothering if they were properly clamped on the line.

I usually hang my clothes myself and would not allow anybody else to do the task especially if this will involve those sensitive garments like underwear. The place that I normally hang my laundry is within the compound of my garage. Even though there was no direct sunlight, the warm wind would ensure that everything  is dry by late afternoon. This is also the place where I parked my aging 4WD. So, the clothes lines were just adjacent to where my 4WD is parked.

After the long conversation on the phone, I opened the cabin door of my truck and began cleaning up the mess, which was left unattended for a week. Having cleared almost everything and feeling satisfied, I closed the door and went in the house.

The next morning, I drove to work as usual. I had a mass lecture at 7:30 that morning and while I was in the middle of a lecture, a colleague suddenly interrupted and asked if he could speak with me for a short while.

Outside the lecture hall, he informed me that there was a blue underwear stuck between the door panels on my truck. I was stunned! “an underwear?, blue?” my thoughts were on the brand less underwear that I just bought a few days ago and some old ones as well. “How the hell did it get stuck on my truck?”

When we finally reached the truck, there in between the door panels was my brand new underwear, glowing glamorously under the morning sunshine. “Thanks God, it was the new one,” I thought. I had a couple of old blue underwear with prominent holes on it.

“Darn, I didn’t realized that when I closed the door yesterday, it took my underwear with it”, I explained to my amused colleague.  I thanked him for his prompt action of informing me. Imagine my embarrassment if later in the day dozens of people would discover an underwear is hanging majestically on my truck.

So, I drove to work yesterday with an underwear stuck on the door and was hanging to resemble a flag and didn’t even notice it! Passers bye might have seen it and laughed at me. What a day!

Later, I went back to the lecture hall and forgot some of the details of my points earlier. I told my students that an incident made me lose track of my lecture. They demanded to know but I told them that I am going to blog about it.
