According to Digitimes, Apple has finally launched its most talked about third generation iPad, known only as the New iPad and no mention whatsoever of the speculated name of iPad 3 or iPad HD. It sports a Retina Display, Apple’s own A5X chip with quad-core graphics as well as a 5-megapixel camera combined with advanced optics. It also feature Wi-Fi + 4G connectivity for faster network worldwide which also include AT&T and Verizon’s 4G LTE networks and at the same time still deliver the same all-day 10 hour battery life.
On the meantime, Apple appears to have lowered the price for the iPad 2, starting from US$399.
Apple explained that the new iPad’s Retina display has four times the number of pixels as available in the iPad 2 and furthermore the 3.1 million pixels in the retina display had over one million more pixels than that are available in a HD TV. The new Retina display has over 44 per cent increased in color saturation and able to play movies at full 1080p HD.
According to Apple, the new A5X chip equipped with quad-core graphics was specifically designed by Apple for faster performance, responsive user experience and above all supporting the Retina display. The A5X chip double the performance of its predecessor A5 chip which according to Apple provides a balance between performance and power efficiency so that users can enjoy all the benefits of the new display while experiencing a multi-touch interface, immersive game play, incredible visual depth and all-day battery life.
Apple stated that the new 5-megapixel camera sports advanced optics specifically for taking pictures and recording in full HD video. It was also equipped with backside illumination to allow users to take picture on a low-lights environment coupled with a video image stabilization feature to remove the usual bumps and shakes typically seen when filming with a hand-held device.

We also saw Apple introducing the new iPhoto app, together with major updates to its iMovie and GarageBand apps which in some way complementing its iLife apps for the iOS. The new iPad also run almost all the 585,000 apps listed on the App Store including some 200,000 native iPad apps.
The new iPad Wi-Fi models will be available in both black and white on March 16. Apple’s has listed its suggested price for both Wi-Fi and 4G models.
